Pedro Sierra
played for the
Indianapolis Clowns
from 1954 to 1955. In 1956, this Cuban right-hander pitched for the Detroit Stars. Sierra had a 22-year career that began in 1954, when he left Cuba as a 16-year-old to play for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Negro League and included two stints in the Washington Senators' system. He left baseball in 1976 and worked for the Montgomery County (Maryland) Department of Recreation for 25 years.
SAM ALLEN
played with the
Kansas City Monarchs
in 1957 under the leadership of manager
Dizzy Dismukes
and owner
Ted Rasberry
. Allen, one of the Monarch's top batters, averaged .295 on 41 hits in 139 trips to home plate that year.
